Global demand has been very good to-date this year which has been validated by a record Castor oil export total from India in the first half of the year - and this will have helped fuel the recent price rise, with high export volumes for May, June and for July expected as well. The South-west monsoon finally covered the key Castor growing state of Gujurat three weeks later than normal, allaying initial concerns. But now the focus turns to the amount and timing of rainfall between now and the end of September, during which time, the farmers will plant their fields with Castor or alternative competing crops...
