NPD work within Sicily has brought significant process in the development of a range of Mandarin Concentrates and NFCs, available both conventionally and organically. As Spanish and other EU producers of Mandarin suffered lower than anticipated crops this year, a good volume Italian crop, arriving a little later than anticipated, has provided processors with the raw material to back up the introduction of the new range into the European market. With a focus on both the Avana and Tardivo di Ciaculli varieties of Mandarins, the range consists of two 60 Brix concentrates with differing taste profiles, and a single strength NFC. The Mandarin products are the latest in a long-line of projects developed through FDL’s partnership with the specialist Sicilian producer Agrumaria Corleone.
